What skill level do I need to take a class?

No experience is required! Our classes welcome complete beginners as well as intermediate and advanced sewists looking to expand their skills. Specific skill levels and prerequisites are always listed on each class flyer and booking page.

What will I learn in the "Sew You Can Sew" 3-Week Beginner Bootcamp Level 1?

Our signature Beginner Bootcamp Level 1 is designed for complete beginners and anyone looking to build a strong sewing foundation.

Over three weeks, you'll learn sewing machine operation, sewing terminology, fabric basics, tailoring, upcycling, garment construction, and beginner-friendly sewing techniques. Students complete hands-on projects while gaining practical skills and confidence to continue sewing on their own.

By the end of the program, you'll have a solid understanding of sewing fundamentals and receive a Certificate of Completion.

What's the difference between Beginner Bootcamp Level 1 and Level 2?

Beginner Bootcamp Level 1 focuses on building a strong foundation in sewing. You'll learn machine basics, sewing terminology, fabric knowledge, tailoring, upcycling, and beginner construction techniques while gaining confidence using a sewing machine.

Beginner Bootcamp Level 2 is designed for students who already feel comfortable using a sewing machine and are ready to level up. This bootcamp focuses on construction techniques such as zippers, French seams, elastic waistbands, gathering, pleats, garment finishing, and more advanced sewing methods.

Both bootcamps include a Certificate of Completion. During Weeks 2 and 3, students work on custom projects based on their personal goals, allowing them to create garments, accessories, tailoring projects, or original designs.

How is the parking?

​

Our studio is located in Downtown Los Angeles, where there are many parking options available nearby. Meters nearby available, free on Sundays.

Detailed parking instructions, building access information, entry codes, and studio directions will be provided in your confirmation email after booking.

We recommend our nearby parking garage, which is approximately $10 cash per day, but students are welcome to use any parking lot or street parking option of their choice.

How many students are usually in a class?

Most group classes have between 3–6 students. We intentionally keep class sizes small to ensure personalized attention, hands-on support, and the best learning experience possible.

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

Absolutely! You are welcome to bring your own sewing machine.

Need one? Sewing machine rentals are available for $15 per class as an optional add-on during booking.

What is the minimum age requirement?

Students must be at least 12 years old to participate in group classes.

Students under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver before attending.

Children under 12 are required to begin with a private lesson before participating in any group class.

Can I purchase a class as a gift?

Yes! Gift cards and class passes are available and make a great gift for anyone interested in learning sewing, tailoring, fashion design,Latex fashion or upcycling.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes! We offer a few flexible payment options to make classes more accessible.

Option 1: Book directly through our website and use Apple Pay's installment/payment plan options (if available through your provider).

Option 2: Contact us directly for a custom payment link. We may be able to split eligible class purchases into multiple payments depending on the class and amount.

If you're interested in a payment plan, please email us or send us a DM before booking, and we'll be happy to discuss available options.

Can I cancel my booking and receive a refund?

No. All bookings are final and non-refundable. Due to our limited class sizes, your reservation secures a seat that is no longer available to other students.

Can I transfer my booking to another date or another person?

No. All bookings are non-transferable and cannot be moved to another date, class, service, or another student.

​

What happens if I miss my class?

Missed classes are considered forfeited and are not eligible for refunds, credits, transfers, or makeup sessions.

​

What if I am sick or have an emergency?

We understand that unexpected situations happen; however, all bookings remain subject to our non-refundable and non-transferable policy. We encourage students to carefully review their schedules before booking.

What if I arrive late?

A 10-minute grace period is allowed. Students arriving more than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time may not be permitted to join class and may forfeit their session.

​

What happens if THE WAN Sewing Studios cancels a class?

In the rare event that we must cancel a class due to instructor illness, emergency, or circumstances beyond our control, students will be offered a makeup session, studio credit, or an alternative solution at our discretion.
