The Full Story
About us
In recent years, there’s been a growing movement among younger generations to learn how to sew, create, and reconnect with making things by hand. Yet, many sewing spaces still lack representation from working fashion designers who understand today’s industry, trends, and creative freedom. Sewing shouldn’t feel outdated or limiting — it should feel empowering, expressive, and limitless.
That’s why THE WAN SEWING STUDIOS was born.

Founded by celebrity fashion designer and stylist Viola Wan, THE WAN SEWING STUDIOS is a Los Angeles–based creative space built on the belief that you can truly create whatever you want.

We offer thoughtfully designed classes for all levels, from absolute beginners to emerging designers, with new and innovative classes introduced monthly to meet different creative goals and skill levels. Our offerings include private and semi-private lessons, open sewing workshops, and specialty experiences such as our signature “Sew You Can Sew” 3-Week Bootcamp, weekly Open Sewing Workshops, and rotating monthly pop-ups — from Valentine’s bucket hats and Halloween bags to custom Labubu clothing and more.

At THE WAN SEWING STUDIOS, you’re not just learning how to sew — you’re joining a community of creators, dreamers, and makers turning ideas into reality.

Mission
Our mission is to make sewing approachable, empowering, and fun — while encouraging sustainability, upcycling, and confidence through hands-on learning.
Vision
As our community grows, THE WAN SEWING STUDIOS aims to expand through U.S. and international tours, bringing our sewing education and creative experiences to new cities worldwide. Our goal is to grow into a global platform for modern sewing, sustainability, and creative empowerment.
